Installation

Hardware requirements:
The exact hardware requirements will vary based upon the size of the genomic fragments searched for. We recommend a machine with at least 2-4 cores and 4GB RAM.

Software requirements:
A recent web browser that supports SVG rendering (e.g. Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer 9) is needed to read the results file. When using MS Windows, the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package needs to be installed as well. On Mac OS X systems, you need to install ActiveTcl version 8.5.

How to install:
Windows: Go to the download area, download the multigeneblast_1.X.X_win32.exe file and run it to install.

Mac OS X 10.6-10.10 (GUI): Go to the download area, download the multigeneblast_1.X.X_macosx.dmg file, open it, and drag the MultiGeneBlast application bundle to your ‘Applications’ folder.

Mac OS X 10.6-10.10 (command-line): Go to the download area, download the multigeneblast_1.X.X_macosx_commandline.zip file and extract it to a folder within your user directory. To run MultiGeneBlast from the command line, add the installation directory to your $PATH environment variable and run the ‘multigeneblast’ executable.

Linux: Go to the download area, download the multigeneblast_1.X.X_linux.tar.gz file and extract it to a folder within your user directory. To run MultiGeneBlast from the command line, add the installation directory to your $PATH environment variable and run the ‘multigeneblast’ executable.

Database versions:
The original MultiGeneBlast database with all entries from GenBank in 2013 (10 GB) is available for download using the gui or can be downloaded by clicking this link.
A version from 01/2015 (23 GB) can be downloaded here, and a version from 12/2015 (38 GB) can be downloaded here.
